Student Employment

Earlham College students provide valuable work and thoughtful input to many of our administrative and academic offices.

Student employment is more than just income for a student; it’s a chance for you to provide mentorship and meaningful work experiences that enhance our students’ post-graduate outcomes. Student employees can fulfill a variety of roles on our campus. Our goal is to ensure that they are engaged in work that allows them to build transferable skills that can translate into their future careers. As a supervisor, you can best serve our students by helping them develop communication, decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills through their work.

Questions? We Have Answers

Check out the FAQ below, or access the Student Employment Guide to the right!

  • How do I know which jobs I’m eligible for?

Your financial aid package may include a Federal Work-Study or Earlham Work Award. Handshake will automatically show you only the student employment positions you are eligible to apply for based on your award type, so you do not need to sort through jobs you cannot apply for. If you are unsure which award you have, contact Financial Aid (finaid@earlham.edu) or Student Employment (studentemployment@earlham.edu)

  • How many hours can I work?

While classes are in session, student employees may work up to 10 hours per week across their student employment positions. Different limits may apply during summer and holiday breaks.

  • When can I start working after I’m hired?

After you are hired, you must complete the required Human Resources onboarding process and wait until HR confirms that you are cleared to work before beginning your job.

  • I've never made a resume before, can I get help?

Absolutely! Schedule an appointment with one of our Career Coaches.
